At last there's a comprehensive and thorough list detailing which cars are the best for students! When a student looks for a car they not only want something that looks decent and is reliable (they do not want to be forking out for car repairs every few months!), But they want something that's reliably cheap to buy in the first place .
Warranty Direct looked at a range of cars that all cost under £ 3,000, and here are the results! Top of the list was the Honda Jazz – a neat little run-around which had the best reliability score. Warranty Direct conducted the research and analyzed 50,000 of its Honda Jazz policies, they found that there was just an 8% chance of the previous-generation Jazz breaking down.
When the trusty little Jazz did break down the average repair bill was just £ 231.59 – the overall Honda reliability score was 18.53.
Second on the list was the Vauxhall Astra which scored 26.9, closely followed by the Toyota Yaris with 27.35. Other popular models include the Ford Fiesta which came 7th and the Nissan Micra came 4th.
Bottom of the reliability list was the Citroen C3 which listed an unhealthy 48.74. 23% of all Citroen C3s surveyed 'went wrong' in an average year. When a Citroen C3 did go wrong the average repair bill came to £ 211.90.
So – if you're a student and you're looking for a reliable little run-around then bear these models in mind and you could end up saving yourself some money – giving you more money to spend on nights out!
